Supporting individuals and couples exploring the
unconscious forces that interfere with their ideal love and work.

Psychotherapy

  • Individuals

    Psychotherapy

Psychodynamic psychotherapy explores the unconscious thoughts and feelings that rule conscious behavior.

Psychotherapy is recommended when long-standing, persistent issues such as depression, grief, unfulfilling relationships, questions of identity, and challenging family dynamics interfere with life in a significant way. Psychotherapy is best suited to address ongoing general dissatisfaction with life and a better option for those seeking a deeper experience of their psychic life.

    Psychoanalysis

Psychoanalysis, also known as depth psychology and familiarly referred to as “the talking cure”, involves multiple sessions per week. Through free association and the analysis of dreams, the individual and the analyst dive below the symptom on the surface to explore the original wound and the resulting factors that drive their emotions and behavior - the unconscious.

Psychoanalysis explores how these unconscious factors - developed through early experiences - affect current relationships and patterns of behavior, thought, and emotion. Through this deep work, the individual and the analyst build a trusting relationship that enables the patient to see the truth of their inner life and its impact on their observable life.

  • Couples

    Psychodynamic Couple Therapy

Psychodynamic couple therapy treats the relationship as the patient - a unique entity distinct from each individual member of the couple - to understand the unconscious patterns, past experiences, unacknowledged beliefs about familial roles, and fantasies that contribute to relationship challenges.

Couple therapy helps partners identify and understand the hidden conflicts, anxieties, and repetitive negative cycles that fuel persistent fights and disappointments. By identifying and acknowledging these unconscious factors, individuals gain insight into their own and their partner’s reflexive responses, accept the truth of underlying relationship dynamics, and change ingrained patterns of communication for more fulfilling interactions.

Executive Coaching

Psychodynamic executive coaching helps you identify the organizational dynamics - conscious and unconscious - that obstruct individual and team success.

  • Individual Executive Coaching

Psychodynamic Executive Coaching explores the interplay between your unconscious motivations as a leader and the psychology of the organization. This process of discovery helps you more precisely identify your executive challenges and opportunities, and effective strategies for addressing them.

With a focus on personal growth within the professional context, we will work together to deepen your understanding of yourself and the organization you work within to unlock your full professional potential. Topics may include:

    • Identity Alignment. Which aspects of your work identity are concordant or discordant with your core identity?

    • Work Values. How do your unstated, and maybe unconscious, beliefs about how work should be done create friction between you and the organization?

    • Feedback Synthesis. Which aspects of the feedback you receive are ego-syntonic - inline with your view of yourself, and which are ego-dystonic - misaligned with your self-conception? With an illuminated understanding of the feedback relative to your identity, you’re empowered to decide what you want to take in and how to address it, and what you want to leave behind and how to navigate potential consequences

    • Transference. Are you projecting emotions from past experiences onto present workplace relationships? Are colleagues projecting onto you? The greater your awareness about workplace transference, the more you are able to pause, process, and respond objectively

    • Workplace Dynamics. Which aspects of your company’s psychology support your success and which aspects hinder it?

  • Co-founder Coaching

The co-founder relationship and early-stage executive team dynamics are key indicators of success of growth-stage companies, requiring direct communication, impactful feedback, and goal alignment.

Co-founder coaching starts with two individual coaching sessions with each person, exploring privately how their personal and professional history filters their own experience of the team and impacts the team dynamics. The core of the work, however, happens in joint conversation. Together we’ll slow down to explore the root cause of communication challenges and identify strategies to overcome them so that the team can speed up again - more effectively.

These sessions are not about the “what” of running the business - strategy, operations, organizational design - but rather about improving the “how” of team communication and feedback in order to shore up the foundation that those pillars of the business are built upon and reinforcing the energy and passion that brought the business into being. Each individual and the team as a whole will come away with a clearer understanding of how their own personal and professional history contributes to team dynamics, how to harness that knowledge to more effectively communicate, and how to navigate team dynamics for more effective performance as a leadership team and company.
